Corn callus and toe callusThe horns, eye of partridge and calluses are the result of hypertension, poor support or a stress-foot shoe. They are found on physiological ill-shod feet, however, distortion or misalignment are predisposing factors. Localized hyperkeratosis is the secondary stage to excessive pressure on the skin and usually is located at the top of deformities (claw toes or exostosis of hallux valgus). The horn is a real horny nail with small surface which forms a cone, that penetrates the skin. It often presents at its center a rather pale (yellow-gray) nucleus . These lesions are painful to pressure especially when bursitis is associated. Toe callus picturesThe eye of partridge is a horn between two toes. In most cases it has soft consistency (because of the interdigital maceration) and is white-yellow. Corns: are the result of a hyper pressure on a wider area. They are found mostly in the forefoot in relation to the support of the metatarsal heads. Calluses: These are lumps in areas supporting plantar friction or pinching. Dry skin is one factor which promotes the appearance of calluses including the heel. Similarly, wearing shoes without keeping open the posterior induces the same effects. |
